I was asked by the organisers of Office Show 2014 to host a roundtable hot topic session on setting up your own Virtual Assistant business at this year’s event at London Olympia.  The Office Show is Office Show 2014the largest event in the UK aimed at PAs, VAs and Secretaries and is definintely not to be missed.

The hot topic sessions were new to the Office Show this year and proved extremely popular so hopefully they will stick around for future events.

I started by giving a brief introduction to me and my businesses and then concentrated on what I felt were the important aspects of setting up a VA business.  This prompted lots of questions so everyone went away with a lot more information than when they came in.

The salient points from the session were as follows:

  • Know your WHY – it might only be a small word but believe me, it will have a massive impact on your business.
  • Create a strong vision for your business. Set your goals and outcomes so you know what it is you want to achieve, how you’re going to achieve it and what it will give you. Begin with the end in mind!
  • Know what clients you want to attract into your business and what services you’re going to offer them in order to fulfill their needs.
  • Be confident about charging your worth. You are a valuable asset to business owners and your rates should reflect that.
  • Work on building solid foundations for your business, they are your key to success.

The dates for Office Show 2015 are the 13th & 14th October so pop them in your diary now so you don’t miss out!  Keep checking their website for full details.
